The minimal SIR model

The minimal SIR model is a discrete stochastic model that averages to the standard SIR model. The growth is determined by the hypergeometric distribution. Although it makes the same assumption as the standard SIR model that the population is well-mixed it is easily extended from complete graphs to social networks.
