Wall functions and Reynolds stress models

Wall functions in which the Reynolds stresses are proportional to the turbulent kinetic energy are used in some pieces of CFD software. The proportionality means that a basis for the Reynolds stresses can be used to collapse the equation for the Reynolds stresses into three multiples of the equation for the turbulent kinetic energy.
